I found that the reversed fade-in audio clip that plays in the beginning of this song is the perfect way to start the album. In this song I decided to experiment with the basslines a little bit more than I've used to. Instead of mainly focusing on the root notes the bass kind of jumps all around and I really love the end result.
"Distant Heart" is trying to capture that feeling of always being in the way.* The reverb on the lead synth has this weird 'out of place' reverb that kind of reflects the message in this piece.

*Just to be clear: I haven't felt like that in a long time but as you might know, those memories will never fade. In retrospect those days were at least decent but at the time I just couldn't see it. Anyways, Have fun while listening this song!
